Summer Before 12th Grade
✅ Finalize College List – Research schools, categorize them into safety, match, and reach schools, and determine where to apply early.
✅ Start College Essays – Brainstorm, draft, and revise personal statements and supplemental essays. Strong, authentic writing makes a difference.
✅ Secure Letters of Recommendation – Ask teachers, counselors, or mentors early to give them time to write strong letters.
Fall of 12th Grade
✅ Complete Early Applications (ED/EA) – Submit by November deadlines for early decision or early action schools.
✅ Polish and Finalize Essays – Continue refining application essays to ensure they reflect personal strengths and experiences.
✅ Stay on Top of Deadlines – Keep track of school-specific requirements, test scores, and financial aid deadlines.
✅ Continue Strong Academics & Activities – Colleges review senior-year grades and involvement, so maintain excellence. ✅ Apply for Scholarships & Financial Aid – Complete the FAFSA and CSS Profile, and seek out merit-based scholarships.
Winter of 12th Grade
✅ Submit Regular Decision Applications – Most deadlines are in January, so double-check all components before submitting.
✅ Prepare for Interviews – If required, practice answering common interview questions confidently.
Spring of 12th Grade
✅ Track Admission Decisions – Review acceptance letters and financial aid packages to make an informed choice.
✅ Visit Colleges (if needed) – Attend admitted student days to determine the best fit.
✅ Make Your Final Decision – Commit to your chosen college by May 1st and decline other offers.
